Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh hereby congratulates Boy Scout Troop 6, The Screamin' Eagles on the celebration of its 75th anniversary; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare October 29, 2017 to be "Boy Scout Troop 6, The Screamin' Eagles Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Boy Scout Troop 6, The Screamin' Eagles, of the Eagle Valley District, Laurel Highlands Council, will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary in the Fall of 2017; and,

WHEREAS, Troop 6 has been a unit with the Boy Scouts of America since 1942 with the same sponsor, Church of the Resurrection in Brookline; and,

WHEREAS, for 75 years, the dedication of the scoutmasters, leaders, committee members, parents, and the charter organization of Troop 6 has prepared countless young men to be responsible citizens and leaders who are guided by the Scout Oath and Scout Law; and,

WHEREAS, Troop 6 and its leaders have instilled scouts with the values of character, leadership, and citizenship, all while having fun doing it through learning scouts skills, camping and outdoor activities, and community service; and,

WHEREAS, under Scoutmaster Fred Metting and his predecessors, Troop 6 has given back to the Brookline community regularly, with activities that have included decorating Brookline Boulevard with American Flags on every National Holiday; completing numerous Eagle Scout projects at Seton Center, Church of the Resurrection, and St. John Bosco Academy; volunteering with Brookline Teen Outreach; cleaning up at community parks and The Cannon; and assisting at the St Mark's community dinners and the Brookline Food Pantry; and,

WHEREAS, since its founding, Troop 6 has produced over 90 Eagle scouts, many of which have been recognized by City Council and other local officials for their achievements; and,

WHEREAS, on October 29, 2017, Troop 6 will be celebrating its 75th anniversary with a recognition ceremony held at the McGinnis Conference Center at Camp Guyasuta; and,

WHEREAS, this special day is a commemoration of their dedication and commitments; and,
