• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Melissa Berman and James Craig on the occasion of their marriage and wishes them good health and happiness for years to come; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare September 3rd, 2017 to be "Melissa and James Craig Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Melissa Gayle Berman and James Robert Craig met in Pittsburgh, PA on September 3^rd, 2010 while undergraduate students at the University of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, Melissa and James’ love and mutual affection grew during their time at Chatham University and the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law, respectively; and,

WHEREAS, while Melissa was born and raised in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania, a suburb of Philadelphia, and James in Washington County, Pennsylvania, the couple fell in love with Pittsburgh, having resided in the Shadyside neighborhood for many years following graduation; and,

WHEREAS, throughout their courtship and engagement, Melissa and James gained deep appreciation and respect for each other’s faiths and backgrounds, assisted by the diverse and welcoming citizens and organizations of Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, Melissa and James have given back to the community through the practice of Tikkun Olam, or repairing the world through acts of kindness and charity; and,

WHEREAS, surrounded by family, friends and loved ones from Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and across the country, Melissa and James will be joined in marriage on September 3^rd, 2017 in Philadelphia by Rabbi Ronald B.B. Symons of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Pittsburgh; and,
