Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Rachel Collura for recognizing the needs of others and for her generous donation to one of our local food banks; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, July 31, 2017, to be "Rachel Collura Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, 6 and ¾ year old Rachel Collura lives in Mt. Washington with her parents, Michael and Elizabeth Collura, and attends Community Day School in Squirrel Hill and is a member of Temple Sinai; and,

 

WHEREAS, her school and temple have reinforced the good moral values that her  parents have instilled in her such as how important it is to help people in the community who are in need; and,

 

WHEREAS, Rachel decided to act on what she has learned and been taught by opening a lemonade stand in her community to raise money for people who do not have enough to eat.  In addition to lemonade, each of her customers were given a map to the Grandview Avenue Overlook; and,

 

WHEREAS, Rachel raised $92 in one day and donated it to the Squirrel Hill Food Pantry, where she visited and learned about through her school and her temple; and,

 

WHEREAS, Ms. Collura will be attending the 1st Grade in the fall and enjoys swimming, dressing in her Wonder Woman costume and “fighting bad guys” and doing ballet, where she takes lessons at the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Rachel Collura for recognizing the needs of others and for her generous donation to one of our local food banks; and,
