Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Vintage Grand Prix for being the nation's largest vintage sports car racing event, for providing the public free of charge with ten days of excitement, top vintage cars for public viewing, and for pursuing their philanthropic duty as a fundraiser for the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School for 34 successful years; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh declares July 7-16, 2017, to be "PITTSBURGH VINTAGE GRAND PRIX DAYS" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is committed to producing a world-class vintage racing event in order to raise funds to provide residential care, treatment and support for developmentally disabled individuals in the Pittsburgh region; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, attended by over 250,000 people during a 10 day schedule of vintage sports car racing and motorsports activities, holds the dual distinction of America’s largest vintage race event and the only one that’s raced on city streets; and,

 

WHEREAS, the funds raised by this event benefit developmentally disabled individuals at the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley School and have totaled an incredible $4.75 million dollars since its inception in 1983; and,

 

WHEREAS, this year is the 35th Anniversary of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix which is presented by the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Foundation and is synonymous with Schenley Park.  It will feature 10 days of motorsports events including a Kick-Off Rally, a Black Tie and Tailpipes Gala, the “Passport to Elegance” Jet Center Party, Historics at Pitt-Race Complex, Car Shows and Cruises in Shadyside, Homestead and Downtown, a Tune up at Atria’s, a Countryside Tour, a race car parade and car show in Squirrel Hill and, of course, Race Day; and,
