Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the W.J. Beitler Company on its 100th Birthday and thank current President Quentin Beitler and all employees for their service to the City of Pittsburgh; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 10, 2017, to be "W.J. Beitler Company Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, W.J. Beitler Co., a fourth generation warehouse and distribution company, is celebrating its 100th year in business; and,

 

WHEREAS, the W. J. Beitler Co. was founded by William J. Beitler on May 15, 1917 when operations located in the heart of the city at 622-624 Second Avenue consisted of horse drawn wagons used for distribution to wholesalers in the Pittsburgh area from spotted rail cars; and,

 

WHEREAS, during World War I, W.J. Beitler expanded into a warehouse and trucking company to prevent shortages in products due to the lack of boxcars when the U.S. Government took over the railroads; and,

 

WHEREAS, in 1954, the W.J. Beitler Company built a warehouse and moved operations to Stafford Street in the Esplen neighborhood of Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, in December of 2013, they acquired 120,000 square ft. of additional warehouse space in Thornburg Industrial Park, which saved the jobs of the former Noble Distribution East employees; and,

 

WHEREAS, with the expansion, the company now operates 320,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space in two Pittsburgh locations and have earned a reputation for providing “Superior Logistics Services Since 1917;” and,

 

WHEREAS, the W. J. Beitler Co. credits its success to its employees who reliably complete and deliver orders that exceed customer expectations; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the W.J. Beitler Company on its 100th Birthday and thank current President Quentin Beitler and all employees for their service to the City of Pittsburgh; and,
