Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 29th through the 30th as "The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh Happy Harmony Days."

WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh, celebrating their 51st season, was first formed as the Westminster Community Singers in 1966 , became the Bob Locklin Singers and in 1976, became The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh; and

WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh, a non-profit volunteer group that performs musical revues and choral presentations, consists of men and women who span many ages and who enjoy performing throughout the Greater Pittsburgh area. The members come from many walks of life, and include teachers, engineers, nurses, counselors, bus drivers, bank executives, interior designers, housing managers, salespeople, and our own City employees, retiree 2008, Procurement Services Coordinator Bernie Komoroski and Connie Lee Walsh, City Finance Department; and,

WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers have sung the National Anthem at Pittsburgh Pirates and Riverhounds Games, and perform for service and professional organizations, churches, schools, and at Pittsburgh Senior Citizen Events; and,

WHEREAS, The Harmony Singers have been invited 3 times to perform at Carnegie Hall, New York City, May 2008 , November 2013 and most recently May 28, 2016 for Sonja Sepulveda conducting REQUIEM and Mark Hayes, conducting specialty anthems including his New York Premiere work THE FIELD; and,

WHEREAS, the major yearly performance of The Harmony Singers is their Annual Spring Revue, which will be presented on April 29th, 30th, at Chartiers Valley Intermediate School under the direction of Cynthia Pratt, Accompanist Carol Karl; and,

WHEREAS, President Rick Campbell, along with Board Members, Linda Valerino, Norina Daubner, Don Prex, Nancy Brown, and Judy Weddell, have titled this season's show "Happy Harmony- Songs That Will Make You Smile", which will feature musical numbers ranging from Broadway to Big Band to Classical, as well as songs by Randy Newman, Stephan Schwartz, George & Ira Gershwin, and Andrew Lloyd Weber; and,
