• Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the thousands who participate and urges all members of the Pittsburgh School District community to actively support and participate in this worthwhile event; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, May 19th, 2017 to be "Take a Father to School Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, May 19^th, 2017 has been designated as the 19^th Annual “Take a Father to School Day” in the Pittsburgh Public Schools; and,

WHEREAS, this annual event involves every branch of the Pittsburgh Public School District and has attracted, annually, over 5,000 fathers and male guardians for the last three years; and,

WHEREAS, it is important to include ‘positive male role models’ in the definition of “father” for the purpose of highlighting the inclusive nature of this event; and,

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Public Schools would like to acknowledge the crucial role of men’s groups and a variety of organizations that have contributed to the success of this initiative; and,
