Title

Resolution directing the Director of Finance to waive any penalties for the local earned income tax caused by the differing federal tax deadline.

Body

WHEREAS, due to federal Emancipation Day holiday, the federal tax deadline occurred on April 18^th while the local tax deadline occurred on April 17^th, causing confusion for Pittsburgh residents; and,

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh residents should not be penalized for filing the earned income tax one day late due to this confusion.

Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:

Section 1.  Directing the Director of Finance to waive any penalties for the local earned income tax caused by the differing federal tax deadline.
