Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and celebrate Judge R. Stanton Wettick Jr, for his commitment to his community and the state of Pennsylvania; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, April 13th 2017 to be "Judge R. Stanton Wettick Jr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Judge R. Stanton Wettick Jr., a long time Pittsburgh resident, has served the Pittsburgh community with distinction since 1963; and,

WHEREAS, a native of Sharon, Pennsylvania, Mr. Wettick chose to practice law in the City of Pittsburgh upon his completion of Yale Law School at Kirkpatrick, Pomeroy, Lockhart & Johnson; and,

WHEREAS, in addition to his work in private practice, Judge Wettick has served as a faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh School of Law, helping educate our next generation of sharp legal minds; and,

WHEREAS, he has also dedicated his time to aiding vulnerable community members in Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, and Lawrence County by serving as the Executive Director of the Neighborhood Legal Service Association; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wettick has not only been an active member in the law community, but a leader as well, holding numerous leadership positions such as Administrative Judge for both Family and Civil Division, as well as the Complex Case Judge, a position held for 26; and,

WHEREAS, his impact can be seen on all of Pennsylvania, since Judge Wettick has had the honor of heading the Civil Rules Committees of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania and Chairing the Ad Hoc Medical Malpractice Committee of Chief Justice Ralph J. Cappy; and,

WHEREAS, Judge Wettick is highly regarded by his community, and all those who have had the pleasure of working with him during his long and meaningful tenure; and,

WHEREAS, it is a privilege and an honor that the Judge remains active in our community as a volunteer in the American Civil Liberties Union, as well as the Neighborhood Legal Services Association; and,
