Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby thank William and Molly for their dedication to foster families and children and the services they provide to foster families in the Mon Valley and Pittsburgh area; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 6th, to be "Molly DiBattisto and William McCafferty Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Molly DiBattisto and William McCafferty of Carrick believe that every child deserves a safe and loving home, but they didn't feel like they were prepared when they became foster parents to three children two years ago; and,

WHEREAS, foster children are often placed in homes with little to none of their belongings, and foster parents may not have all of the supplies they need when the children arrive; and,

WHEREAS, based on their experience, Molly and William began collecting supplies through community donations that went directly to foster children, calling their efforts the Foster Success Program; and,

WHEREAS, this is the first year of operation for the Foster Success Program. Their mission is to treat all foster children with dignity, and collect donations of clothing, books, movies, toys, furniture, suitcases, and fun items for children and teens to make them feel welcome into a new home; and,

WHEREAS, Molly and William work to enable foster families to accept emergency foster placements without the worry of having to purchase items; and,

WHEREAS, Molly and William work tirelessly to ensure that foster children and foster families have more than the "bare necessities" and to counter the stigma of being a foster child; and,

WHEREAS, Molly and William want to be the difference between 'yes' and 'no' when a foster parent receives a call about a child and have only a few hours to get everything they need.; and,

WHEREAS, Molly and William are able to help foster children enjoy normal childhood experiences through donations of tickets and gift certificates for Idlewild, Kennywood, Pittsburgh Pirates games, Washington Wild Things games, museums, and restaurants; and,

WHEREAS, Molly and William have provided more than 50 families with additional clothing, shoes, school supplies, and baby items; and,
