WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh provides lodging, meals and support to families with children receiving treatment at local hospitals and medical centers; and
WHEREAS, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMCH) of Pittsburgh strives to create a community where children and their families embrace life and healing with a sense of hope, enthusiasm, courage and joy; and
WHEREAS, the Ronald McDonald Caremobile is a state-of-the-art primary care center on wheels that helps pediatricians, nurses and respiratory therapists provide high quality medical care to Pittsburgh-area children and adolescents who are unable to visit a doctor regularly; and
WHEREAS, RMCH of Pittsburgh was recently the beneficiary of the Give A Hand fundraising program hosted by all McDonald’s restaurants in the Greater Pittsburgh area; and
WHEREAS, the Give A Hand program is an opportunity to remind customers, donors, volunteers and communities that, by making a donation to Ronald McDonald House Charities at a local McDonald’s restaurant, they are helping keep families close in their greatest time of need; and
WHEREAS, over the past decade, the Give a Hand program at local McDonald’s restaurants has raised a million dollars for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh and the families it serves; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Pittsburgh on its success and continued growth to keep families close; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, December 6, 2016 to be “Ronald McDonald House Charities Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
