Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and commend Debby Firestone for her commitment and dedication to serving children and the Jewish Community and congratulates her being honored at the Annual Spiritual Adoption / Scholarship Fundraising Dinner from NA'AMAT USA Pittsburgh Council; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, November 15, 2016 to be "DEBBY FIRESTONE DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, NA'AMAT USA is dedicated to providing financial and emotional support for the children of Israel - from newborns to university graduates - through a spiritual adoption, and helps people provide funds necessary to send children to a world-renowned NA'AMAT Daycare Center where they are fed three hot meals a day and are nurtured by trained teachers and counselors; and,

WHEREAS, this year, NA'AMAT USA Pittsburgh Council will hold its Annual Spiritual Adoption / Scholarship Fundraising Dinner on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at the Congregation Beth Shalom where it will honor Debby Firestone for her contribution and commitment to NA'AMAT USA; and,

WHEREAS, Debby Firestone, who grew up in Latrobe, PA, came to Pittsburgh for her education at Point Park University and received a Master's Degree from Duquesne University, has been a committed and active member of NA'AMAT USA Pittsburgh Council for more than 18 years and is a life member of NA'AMAT, Hadassah, and National Council of Jewish Women; and,

WHEREAS, she has served on the national board for the past six years, and most recently as National Recording Secretary for the past four years. She previously served as NA'AMAT USA Pittsburgh Council President from 2007 to 2010 where she focused on recruitment of new members and brought back life members to become more actively involved; and,

WHEREAS, Debby Firestone is a retired teacher in the former Swissvale School District and Woodland Hills School District where she began making positive impacts on the lives of children. Debby's commitment to children and the Jewish community has had a positive impact on children and the work of the NA'AMAT USA Pittsburgh Council; and,
