WHEREAS, the Hair Hut Salon celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Mount Washington with an open house on November 1, 2016; and,
WHEREAS, Angie Leone opened the Hair Hut Salon on November 1, 1966 on Southern Avenue in Mount Washington. When her high school sweetheart Dave Spinelli came home from the service in 1968, they decided to tie the knot and were wed in 1969. That same year, Dave joined the salon; and,
WHEREAS, in 1970, Dave and Angie expanded the salon to include a clothing boutique and in 1973 they moved the salon to 124 Virginia Avenue where they have remained since then, renovating the salon several times over the years. In 1992, they opened a 2nd location in Moon Township which they have since sold in 2009; and,
WHEREAS, there have been many stylists who have come and gone, but Susan Newman Reich has been one who has been with the Hair Hut Salon for 34 years and they have 3 faithful clients who have been with them for all 50 years and counting; and,
WHEREAS, the family-friendly Hair Hut Salon is proud to be on their 4th generation of clients providing a variety of hair services including updos for proms and weddings; and,
WHEREAS, Angie and David Spinelli have two children, Nicole and David, who is a City of Pittsburgh Police Officer, and four grandchildren: Anna, 12 and Joe ,9 to Nicole and her husband Richard and Michael, 7 and Isla, 4 to David and his wife Jennifer; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to their salon and grandkids, David enjoys volunteering with the Grandview Lions Club and both Angie and Dave were involved with St. Mary of the Mount Parish; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate the Hair Hut Salon for their 50 years in operation and thank them for the service they provide to our residents; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Monday, November 7, 2016 to be "Hair Hut Salon Day" in the City of Pittsburgh....
