WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre was founded in the City of Pittsburgh in 1996 by Connie Brinda and Wayne Brinda, longtime educator and theatrical director, to enrich the lives of Pittsburghers by presenting stage productions and educational programs based on works of literature from the middle and secondary curriculum; and,
WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre is celebrating its 20th year entertaining and enriching the lives of Pittsburghers from all over our city; and,
WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre is a longtime community member of Pittsburgh's North Side, having presenting dozens of plays and public events at the New Hazlett Theatre Performing Arts Center at Allegheny Square; and,
WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre selects works of literature to present that are educationally meaningful and culturally and racially inclusive and significant, while also proactively ensuring that physically challenged audience members can fully enjoy all of their performances; and,
WHEREAS, Prime Stage Theatre's long and active history of educational programming has touched and enriched the lives of countless Pittsburghers and resulted in measurable improved literacy scores among its audiences and program participants; and,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes to recognize and thank Prime Stage Theatre on its 20th anniversary, for all of the wonderful work they do for our community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, November 5th, 2016 to be “Prime Stage Theatre Day” in the City of Pittsburgh. Happy Anniversary Prime Stage Theatre!
