• Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and celebrate Pitt Make a Difference Day, and warmly thanks all those students, university staff, and community volunteers who participate; and, NOW THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, October 22nd 2016 to be "Pitt Make a Difference Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, on Saturday, October 22^th 2016 the University of Pittsburgh will host Pitt Make a Difference Day, a city wide service project which aims to allow university students to spend a day giving back to the city that they call home; and,

WHEREAS, now it its ninth year as the largest day of service in our region, Pitt Make a Difference Day will bring over 5,550 students off campus and into over 100 city neighborhoods for nearly 20,000 hours of service, where they will assist various community groups and nonprofit organizations in a diverse array of service projects; and,

WHEREAS, coinciding with National Make a Difference Day, Pitt is proud to host the largest day of service in our region by including students, faculty, staff, and alumni in all aspects of the day; and,

WHEREAS, special thanks should be reserved for the community organizers and University of Pittsburgh staff who work year after year to organize, promote, and grow this fantastic event; and,
