Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulate Pittsburgh Musical Theater for their 25 years of educating youth in the arts, and employing and developing local talent; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 25, 2016 to be "Pittsburgh Musical Theater Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Musical Theater  is celebrating 25 years of  providing quality, affordable musical theater to the Pittsburgh region with a Silver Spotlight Gala to be held on Friday, November 4; and,

 

WHEREAS, this all ages event will include a Strolling Dinner, Signature Cocktails, a Silent Auction, and Live Entertainment by the award-winning The Elite Show Band <http://www.eliteshowband.com/>, all benefiting the Transformative Campaign and its resident theater educational programs; and,

 

WHEREAS, located in the West End, Pittsburgh Musical Theater (PMT) was founded in 1990 as a non-profit performing arts organization committed to education, training, and outreach programs in order to enrich the lives of Pittsburgh youth by introducing them to the musical theater experience; and,

 

WHEREAS, PMT produces student matinees during the school year allowing schools to expose students, many of whom are from financially-challenged areas, to musical theater. Following each performance, a dynamic interaction between the audience, the director and the actors takes place to broaden their experience and interest in musical theater; and,

 

WHEREAS, they also offer Teen, Pre-teen and Broadway Jr. Programs for ages 4-18 and a Pre-College Program which has served as an avenue to Broadway, feature films and University training; and,

 

WHEREAS, PMT showcases student talent in Broadway-style shows at the Byham Theater, the New Hazlett Theater and the Gargaro Theater with its professional company; and the Richard E. Rauh Conservatory Company; and,
