Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that as the Brightwood Pumpkinfest celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes to recognize and thank all who work to make it such a meaningful event for Brightwood and the Northside of Pittsburgh each and every year; and, BE FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, October 22nd to be "Brightwood Pumpkinfest Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Horace Mann Field in Brightwood will come to life on Saturday, October 22, 2016, as the Brightwood Civic Group (BCG) will be hosting its 25th annual Pumpkinfest Celebration.  A pumpkin patch, festive games, face painting, balloons, puppet show, rides, and a climbing wall will be sported this year to make the 25th Anniversary of Pumpkinfest a special day for all; and,

 

WHEREAS, Brightwood’s Pumpkinfest has become a multi-generational family tradition, attracting over 300 families each year who enjoy the Western Pennsylvania's autumn season and family fun; and,

 

WHEREAS, this day is made possible because of dedicated volunteers and generous donors.  Over 150 organizations, businesses, suppliers, elected officials, social service agencies and individuals support the annual Brightwood Pumpkinfest; and,

 

WHEREAS, the Brightwood Civic Board of Directors and its members provide the leadership and coordination each year to the Pumpkinfest celebration; and,

 

WHEREAS, Carol Annis, the founder of the Brightwood Civic Group and the founder of Brightwood's Pumpkinfest, contributed her time and talents toward the betterment of Brightwood; and,

 

WHEREAS, Carol's daughters, Toni Annis and Diane Annis-Dixon, have followed in the footsteps of their mother, preserving the celebration of Pumpkinfest in Brightwood for over 15 years, providing countless hours of leadership and volunteer time so that local families get to share in a positive and meaningful day; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that as the Brightwood Pumpkinfest celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh wishes to recognize and thank all who work to make it such a meaningful event for Brightwood and the Northside of Pittsburgh each and every year; and,
