WHEREAS, Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop, located on Shiloh Street in Mount Washington, is celebrating its 5th year anniversary; and,
WHEREAS, owner Vickie Pisowicz, who came from the corporate world, decided to open a bakery at the urging of many community residents and business owners who expressed their desire for a local bakery and her passion for baking; and,
WHEREAS, Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop opened its doors in the fall of 2011 as a traditional full-service bakery providing a variety of baked goods ranging from specialty and wedding cakes to breads, cupcakes, cookies, doughnuts, muffins, pastries and much more; and,
WHEREAS, in addition to the bakery, the sweet shop appeals to your sweet tooth by offering a selection of homemade, hand-dipped chocolate confectioneries, all made from handed-down family recipes; and,
WHEREAS, the bakeshop attracts the baker in you by offering a variety of candy and cake decorating supplies including over 1,000 different chocolate molds; and
WHEREAS, Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop takes pride in having 12 out of their 15 employees reside in the City of Pittsburgh and their team members take pride in the delicious, fresh products that they produce and sell and the bakery credits the support of the community for their success; and,
WHEREAS, Vickie credits the support of the community for the bakery’s success and as a thank you, she is always willing to help within the neighborhood, even offering the bakery’s party room, which is normally available to rent, to community organizations at no charge; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby congratulates the Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop for their 5 years in business and wish them more to come; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, October 11, 2016, to be “Grandview Bakery and Sweet Shop Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
