WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Health Center is a comprehensive primary healthcare center established in 2006 to provide the highest quality care to everyone in our community regardless of their income level or insurance status. There is special concern for religious beliefs, ethnic and cultural backgrounds, language, age, sex and disability status; and,
WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Health Center’s multi-lingual and multicultural staff annually provides over 5000 patients of all ages primary and preventive medical care, mental and behavioral health services, dental care, case management and access to supportive services; and,
WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Health Center’s patient population is from over 25 countries and cultures and includes a growing number of immigrants and refugees; and,
WHEREAS, while the Squirrel Hill Health Center is committed to strengthening its leadership in helping the Pittsburgh region’s diverse populations achieve optimal and affordable health care and well-being, it has become known on the local, state and national levels for its best practices; and,
WHEREAS, the Squirrel Hill Health Center is marking its 10th Anniversary of providing care to the community through its mission and visionary approach to inclusive health care; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and congratulate the Squirrel Hill Health Center for ten years of successful health care delivery and wishes them continued success in improving health outcomes for the community; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Thursday, September 22, 2016 to be “SQUIRREL HILL HEALTH CENTER DAY” in the City of Pittsburgh.
