WHEREAS, Vincentian Collaborative System (Vincentian), a Catholic not-for-profit health care and human services organization, is dedicated to respecting individual dignity and the value of human life by creating a loving, caring atmosphere that promotes the physical, spiritual, psychological, and social well-being of each person in their care; and,
WHEREAS, Vincentian coordinates the care for the communities at Marian Manor (Banksville), Vincentian de Marillac (Stanton Heights) & Vincentian Home (McCandless); and,
WHEREAS, Vincentian’s 5th annual Rocking for Residents fundraiser is set for Saturday, Sept 17, 2016 from 1-4 p.m. at each of their locations. The annual fundraiser is always a rocking good time with entertainment, food, raffles, games, prizes and of course rocking chairs; and,
WHEREAS, in the past four years, Rocking for Residents raised more than $250,000 to benefit Vincentian’s residents; and,
WHEREAS, to kick off the event, the public is invited to a Rockin’ Lunch Hour beginning at noon on Tuesday, September 13 on the Grant Street portico of the City-County Building where you can rock with local celebrities; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Vincentian Collaborative System for the care they provide for our senior residents and invite all Pittsburgh residents to rock for our seniors; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, September 17th, 2016, to be “Rocking for Residents Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
