Resolution authorizing the Mayor and Director of the Department of Public Works to enter into an Acceptance of Donation and License and Maintenance Agreement with Laura Jean McLaughlin and the South Side Slopes Neighborhood Association (SSSNA), regarding the donation, installation, and maintenance of mosaic art installation on the risers of the Oakley Way Steps in the South Side Slopes.

WHEREAS, Laura Jean McLaughlin (the “Artist”) has offered to create and donate a mosaic art installation (the “Panels”) to the City; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works (DPW) recommends acceptance of the Panels; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Art Commission has also provided its approval for the Panels at the site; and
WHEREAS, SSSNA has offered to assist Artist with future maintenance efforts and funding for the Panels at the site; and
WHEREAS, the City would now like to accept this donation and intends to permit its installation on City property, on the risers of the Oakley Way Steps. On behalf of the City, the Mayor is authorized to accept the donation of the Panels from Artist.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and the Director of the Department of Public Works are hereby authorized to enter into an Acceptance of Donation and License and Maintenance Agreement or Agreements with artist Laura Jean McLaughlin and SSSNA regarding the donation, installation, and maintenance of the mosaic art panels. The Artist will create and design the mosaic panels. SSSNA will assist her with the maintenance and funding efforts. All agreements will be approved by the City Solicitor as to form and substance.
