Title: NOW THEREFORE IT BE RESOLVED, the City of Pittsburgh honors Bobby and his contribution to the community of Carrick and the Carrick Youth Athletic Association; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare August 1, 2016 to be "Bobby Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the Carrick Youth Athletic Association has been providing young residents an opportunity to play sports and be part of a team for many decades; and,

 

WHEREAS, children play baseball and softball in a fun and competitive environment that invites all residents of the community to come and watch; and,

 

WHEREAS, one community member in particular, Bobby Legas, has attended games religiously for the past seven years to watch and cheer on the players; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bobby is a well-known face on Brownsville Road, whether he was seen flagging down a fire truck to blow it's horn or selling flowers at the top of Knox Avenue; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bobby is not just a spectator, but also a person who offers his time and talents, always helping to clean up the field after games and bringing the players candy; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bobby is so dedicated to Carrick's teams that he even walks to South Side to watch away games held there, and will sometimes accept rides to attend games that are farther away; and,

 

WHEREAS, the neighborhood of Carrick and the Carrick Youth Athletic Association recognizes Bobby’s dedication and has honored him with the title of Carrick’s #1 Fan; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bobby received a medal, hat, trophy, and shirt that says CARRICK'S #1 FAN and a softball signed by every single player on the team on July 6, 2016; and,

 

WHEREAS, City of Pittsburgh firefighters from Engine 23 in Carrick brought the fire truck to further celebrate Bobby and what he means to the neighborhood; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bobby is loved and respected by many in the community for his uncommon willingness to talk to anybody who says hello and wants to have a conversation; and,
