• Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend and recognize Haley for her perseverance and attitude and congratulate her on her recent accomplishment and championship; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 19th, 2016 to be "Haley Grenesko Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, over a four-day tournament during the summer of 2016 in Wildwood, New Jersey, Haley Grenesko of Pittsburgh, showed dedication, determination, and sportsmanship to become the 2016 National Marble Champion; and,

WHEREAS, Haley and other "mibsters" or marble shooters played in over 1,200 games while competing for national honors as well as college scholarships and numerous prizes and awards during the 93^rd annual competition; and,

WHEREAS, Haley, who is following a long history of marble champions hailing from Allegheny County is soon to be a 9^th grader at Pittsburgh's Allderdice High School in the pre-engineering magnet program while remaining  an active member of the girl scouts and the National Honors Society; and,

WHEREAS, Haley used her three years of previous marble playing experience to give her the necessary courage and resolve to travel over 400 miles and compete with 25 other girls; and,

WHEREAS, Haley showed incredible dedication and perseverance leading up to the competition by practicing for several months at St. Mary's Lyceum in Lawrenceville as well as playing every day for two straight weeks at the marble rink located by the Bloomfield Bridge; and,

WHEREAS, in Haley's own words, this competition has taught her confidence, the importance of staying calm under pressure, and the value of playing not just to win; and,

WHEREAS, Hailey hopes to take these life lessons along with her formidable strength, skills, and abilities into the future as she dreams of going into the medical field, with aspirations of becoming a doctor; and,
