Title: NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the work of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and its partners to attract this significant national conference to Pittsburgh and celebrates the efforts of all organizations working to make our city's vibrant arts scene more welcoming for all residents and visitors; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare the week of July 31st - August 6th, 2016 to be "National Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability Conference Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, each year, the Kennedy Center's Office of Accessibility hosts the National Leadership Exchange in Arts and Disability (LEAD) to provide professional development training to key staff of museums, theatres, performing arts centers, art galleries, and other arts venues seeking opportunities to become more inclusive of and accessible for guests and patrons with disabilities; and,

WHEREAS, from July 31st - August 6th, this year's LEAD Conference will take place in various venues throughout Pittsburgh; and,

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust played an integral role in bringing the national conference to Pittsburgh and supported the Kennedy Center in the development of the agenda of workshops, speakers, exhibits and networking sessions; and,

WHEREAS, workshop topics include creating more sensory environments for visitors with special needs, the interaction between the Americans with Disabilities Act and the arts, and offering a better experience for patrons suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's; and,

WHEREAS, throughout the week, arts advocates from around the country will be able to explore Pittsburgh's vibrant arts community and visit some of the venues that are so vital to our city neighborhoods; and,

WHEREAS, led by tireless efforts of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, other organizations collaborated to make this dream a reality. They include the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council, Andy Warhol Museum and Children's Museum of Pittsburgh; and,
