Body

Whereas, Wightman Park in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh has not seen upgrades for more than twenty years; and,

Whereas, local firm Pashek Associates, through robust community process, designed the Wightman Park Master Plan to not only improve but also remake the park for purposes of accessibility, neighborhood needs, and green infrastructure; and,

Whereas, the City of Pittsburgh’s City Council District 8 office is seeking funding to accomplish the Wightman Park Rehabilitation Project, valued at $2.89 million, according to the Wightman Park Master Plan; and,

Whereas, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Greenways, Trails, and Recreation Program (GTRP) offers grant funding for projects related to rehabilitation and repair of greenways, open space, parks, and beautification projects.
