Title: NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the leadership and board of the New Leaders Council of Pittsburgh and celebrate the graduation and accomplishments of the 2016 Class of New Leaders Council Fellows; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, June 22, 2016 to be "New Leaders Council of Pittsburgh Class of 2016 Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, The New Leaders Council is a nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organization that works to recruit, train and promote the progressive political entrepreneurs of tomorrow - trendsetters, elected officials and civically-engaged leaders in business and industry who will shape the future landscape; and,

WHEREAS, The New Leaders Council recruits individuals and equips them with the skills necessary to be civic leaders in their communities and workplaces and guarantees no financial barriers to participants through New Leaders Council Institutes, which are recognized as the nation's premiere progressive training programs; and,

WHEREAS, NLC graduates comprise an ever-expanding group of diverse, new progressive leaders who are rising to the top of their respective fields creating an exciting network of individuals, highly-skilled in collaborating across sectors to improve the progressive infrastructure and ensure strong democracy, social justice, and equal opportunity; and,

WHEREAS, the New Leaders Council Institutes were held in 35 cities nationwide in 2016, training nearly 700 new leaders across sectors joining more than 3,000 alumni across the globe; and,

WHEREAS, a committed all-volunteer board of Erin Belitskus, Kyle Gracey, Jordan Ball, Jeannette Hickman, Selena Schmidt, Kathryn Vargas, Rhiannon Cook, Aerion Abney, Megan Neuf, and Tara Jerry expanded the New Leaders Council Chapter and Institute in Pittsburgh in 2016; and,

WHEREAS, on June 22, 2016 the New Leaders Institute Pittsburgh will graduate their inaugural cohort of New Leaders Fellows consisting of: Jenna Baron, Be There Campaign & Be a Middle School Mentor Associate, United Way of Allegheny County; Sarah Boal, Executive Director, Friends of Southeast Alaska; Richard Burgess; Curt Conrad, Chief of Staff, Pittsburgh City Councilmember Corey O'Connor; James Craig, Associate Attorney, Beier, Beier & Beier; Trevor Cutlip, Inventory and Volunteer Manager, Global Links; Christopher Lin, Student, Temple Unive...
