Resolution authorizing the Mayor and Director of Parks and Recreation to accept conveyances of land from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to create additional land as part of Cliffside Park, to become August Wilson Park.

Whereas, the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy wishes to convey land to the City of Pittsburgh to become part of August Wilson Park; and
Whereas, Resolution number 2016-0116 authorized the renaming of Cliffside Park to August Wilson Park; and
Whereas, August Wilson, a native of the City of Pittsburgh, won a Pulitzer Prize for his series of ten plays, The Pittsburgh Cycle and the City of Pittsburgh wishes to honor him by renaming Cliffside Park to August Wilson Park; and
Whereas, the City now seeks to accept conveyances from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to become part of the August Wilson Park.
Be it resolved by the Council of the City of Pittsburgh as follows:
Section 1. The Mayor and Director of Parks and Recreation are hereby authorized to accept conveyances from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to become part of the August Wilson Park.
Section 2. The property is described as follows:

Section 3. The Mayor and Director of Parks and Recreation are hereby authorized to rename Cliffside Park as “August Wilson Park.” Land formerly known as Cliffside Park belonging to the City of Pittsburgh, land coming from the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy as referenced in this Resolution, and additional land conveyed by the Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh to the City of Pittsburgh in Resolution No. 385 of 2016 will now form a whole called August Wilson Park.
