Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize, commend, and congratulate Tanner on his receipt of the 2016 Scott E. Folmer Memorial Student, Teacher and Exemplary Practice or Partnering Award; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Wednesday, May 4, 2016 to be "TANNER CANNON DAY" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Tanner Cannon is a junior at Steel Valley High School in Munhall, where he impressively maintains a 3.5 GPA while also playing for his school's soccer and baseball teams and being an active member of the History Club; and

WHEREAS, Tanner took it upon himself to bring his classmates together in support of one of their younger classmates, a special education student in his sophomore year at Steel Valley High School incredibly fond of video games who, unfortunately, didn't have a system on which he could play them; and

WHEREAS, thanks to Tanner's rallying of his classmates in this act of kindness and generosity, in which the students raised money without assistance from their parents, the students of Steel Valley High School were able to present their classmate with a brand new Xbox One, a certificate redeemable for online play, and accessories in time for this past winter holiday season, thus allowing him to enjoy one of his favorite hobbies; and

WHEREAS, once a year, the Local Task Force on the Right to Education in Allegheny County sponsors the Scott E. Folmer Memorial Student, Teacher and Exemplary Practice or Partnering (STEPP) Awards to recognize the outstanding support of children receiving special education services. The STEPP Awards honor a student, staff member and school or school district. These awardees exemplify a spirit of commitment to students in special education programs; and

WHEREAS, for his acts of generosity and support, Tanner will be honored as the student recipient of the 2016 STEPP Award Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at Steel Valley High School; and
