WHEREAS, ten years ago, marketing professional Christina French realized that cultivating a unique and progressive culinary scene in Pittsburgh would help to retain young talent, revitalize neighborhoods, and create jobs, and;
WHEREAS, with the help of an advisory board of government officials and tourism professionals, Christina launched Table Magazine in 2006 to bring attention to Pittsburgh’s burgeoning culinary scene, and;
WHEREAS, a decade later, Pittsburgh’s culinary scene is thriving and garnering international attention, and Table Magazine is playing a vital role in promoting the great work of the region’s farmers, entrepreneurs, restauranteurs, chefs, and food bloggers, and;
WHEREAS, Table Magazine is distributed to 30,000 readers quarterly and features recipes, profiles of local restaurants, and tips on creating memorable dining experiences, and;
WHEREAS, Table Magazine collaborates with workforce development organizations to develop programs and train individuals seeking opportunities within the booming culinary field, and;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize Christina French and the Table Magazine team for a decade of success and for promoting Pittsburgh’s culinary scene to the rest of the country and to the world, and;
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare April 19th, 2016 to be “Table Magazine Tenth Anniversary Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
