WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association is a chartered State Association of the United States Bowling congress, which is the national governing body which ensures the integrity of the sport and protects its future, provides programs and services and enhances the bowling experience; and,
WHEREAS, the Pennsylvania State Bowling Association promotes, organizes and conducts annual tournaments for the members of the state local associations and to the best of its ability, promotes and fosters the game of American Tenpins with the assistance and guidance of the United States Bowling Congress. The PSBA operates a State Hall of Fame, State Jamboree, Regular Tournament, Seniors Tournament, Mixed Tournament, State Bowling Council and provides support to the PA State USBC Youth Program; and,
WHEREAS, the Greater Pittsburgh USBCBA is proud to announce the opening ceremonies of the 77th Annual PSBA Championship Tournament to be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the North Versailles Lanes featuring Louis Lipps, former Steeler and bowler who will throw out the ceremonial first ball; and,
WHEREAS, this tournament is the largest bowling tournament in the state of Pennsylvania and generates thousands of dollars to the city. It runs for 11 consecutive weekends through June 12, 2106 and will serve 15,000 bowlers and families who will be participating; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the USBCBA for its work in promoting and fostering the sport of Bowling and congratulates the PSBA for its 77th Annual Championship Tournament; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, April 2, , 2016, to be “ PSBA CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT DAY ” in the City of Pittsburgh.
