Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 22, 2016 to be "Barbara Curry Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Barbara Curry, devoted wife of 31 years to Robert L. Curry and a loving mother to son Jonathan Curry, has worked in various capacities for the City of Pittsburgh since June 24, 1970, her date of hire; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry began her career as a secretary to the Pittsburgh Model Cities Program, from where she transitioned to Secretary/Bookkeeper for the Finance Department until 1978, Secretary to the Director in the Department of Lands & Buildings until 1984, Chief Clerk to the Director of the Pittsburgh Water & Sewer authority until 1997, Human Resources Specialist at PWSA until 2006, and Human Resources Manager at PWSA until the current date; and,

 

WHEREAS, Mrs. Curry plays an active role in her community, having served on the Supervisory Committee with the Credit Union prior to becoming a Board Member for the past 35 years, serving on PWSA’s Safety Committee for the past 18 years, and serving as an elder in her church; and, 

 

WHEREAS, in her spare time, Mrs. Curry prepares taxes for family members, friends and parishioners, enjoys public theater, reading in a book club, and is an avid Bunco Player; and,

 

WHEREAS, after 46 years of service to the City of Pittsburgh, Barbara Curry will be retiring, and her presence will be sorely missed by those at PWSA and the City of Pittsburgh;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 22, 2016 to be “Barbara Curry Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
