WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Riverhounds soccer club was founded in 1999 by Paul Heasley who wanted to fuel the ambitions of youngsters, such as his son Lucas, by giving them an avenue to become professional soccer players; and,
WHEREAS, Heasley sold the Riverhounds in 2004 and after several venue and ownership changes, they found their home at Highmark Stadium in 2013 with the current owner Tuffy Shallenberger; and,
WHEREAS, The Pittsburgh Riverhounds are also offering two Summer Camp training options in 2016: the Little Hounds Track, a fun-filled camp for ages 4-7 and their Realization Track which is a high level camp used to identify the top boys and girls in the region from ages 8-13; and,
WHEREAS, The Hounds take part in a number of community outreach events all over the region including the 2016 Pittsburgh Muscle Team event to be held at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on March 16 where players Mike Green and Nick Kolarac will be representing The Riverhounds ; and,
WHEREAS, on March 13, The Hounds will be hosting their second pre-season game against the University of Michigan at noon with doors opening at 10:30 for Fan Fest, a free event for fans of all ages with food trucks, live music, vendors and more; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby wish The Pittsburgh Riverhounds a great season and thank them for their contributions to our youth; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, March 13, 2016, to be “The Pittsburgh Riverhounds’ Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
