Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 13, 2016 to be "Pastor Andrew V. Jackson, Jr. Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Pastor Andrew V. Jackson, Jr., husband to Helen Jackson, father to 5 children and grandfather to 12 children, celebrates 7 years of service at the Webster Avenue Christian & Missionary Alliance Church; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Jackson was born in Pittsburgh to proud parents Andrew V. Jackson, Sr. and Mariah Gordon Jackson, where he grew up in a home in South Oakland with his two sisters and two brothers, and was strongly influenced by his father, a Chairman of the Board of Deacons for many years and his mother, who was Superintendent of Sunday School; and,

 

WHEREAS, in1990, Pastor Jackson became a member of the New Light Baptist Church’s Deacon Board, where he later served as its Chairman, moving on to accept the call to preach in 1999 by becoming a licensed associate minister, and where he was subsequently ordained in 2001; and, 

 

WHEREAS, with his wife Helen Jackson, Pastor Jackson founded Abundant Mercy Ministries, an outreach/evangelistic ministry, who service included creating a youth work program, instituting men’s ministries for several churches, a free food program, and a nursing home ministry; and,

 

WHEREAS, 35 years after graduating from high school, Pastor Jackson continued his educational matriculation as a Harty Bible School graduate, where he served as President of the Alumni Association, and by completing his studies at the Pennsylvania Bible Institute (Christian and Missionary Alliance); and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Jackson has recently concluded his studies at the Center for Urban Biblical Ministry, where he received an associate’s degree in Christian Ministry, and he is currently enrolled in the Adult Completion Program at Geneva College, pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministry Leadership;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare March 13, 2016 to be “Pastor Andrew V. Jackson, Jr. Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
