Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and celebrates the Beltzhoover City Seniors and the important role that they play in the Belzhoover community; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, February 2nd 2016 to be "Beltzhoover City Seniors Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, Beltzhoover is a historic residential neighborhood in South Pittsburgh’s Hilltop area, home to a close community of long-term residents; and,

 

WHEREAS, Beltzhoover is home to a rich and diverse tapestry of community activists and organizations who work tirelessly to maintain their streets and neighborhood, and who represent the best elements of what it means to be a Pittsburgher; and, 

 

WHEREAS, the Beltzhoover City Seniors group has been formed as a social and service organization benefitting the close knit senior community of Beltzhoover, coming together  several times per week in the community space of McKinley Recreation center to maintain long term friendships and a spirit of neighborhood cooperation; and,

 

WHEREAS, as one of the City of Pittsburgh’s most historical Black Neighborhoods it is especially important to recognize this amazing Beltzhoover group as we kick off the 2016 celebration of Black History Month; and,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh commends and celebrates the Beltzhoover City Seniors and the important role that they play in the Belzhoover community; and,
