WHEREAS, attaining the milestone of the diamond wedding anniversary is cause for celebration , and so, the Coffey Family of Pittsburgh will be celebrating the 60th Anniversary of Harry and Raye Coffey on January 15, 2016 ; and,
WHEREAS, Harry Coffey , born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School and Raye Friedken, born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Schenley High School married in 1956 and raised three children, Ivy, Mark and Hal ; and,
WHEREAS, Harry was the owner of Empire Furniture Company in Bloomfield for decades and after selling the store, he worked as the Manager of Quality Furniture Thomasville Galleries in Monroeville until 2014. Raye worked for years as the Food Demonstrator Extraordinaire at McGinnis Sisters in Monroeville. As a family, they were members of Congregation B’nai Israel in East Liberty and then Temple David in Monroeville ; and,
WHEREAS, Harry and Raye were devoted to their family and their grandchildren, Oliver, Carlin, Zachary and Eli and their Grand dogs Leo and Stella. Harry loved to play tennis and Raye was a wonderful cook .and,
WHEREAS, the family will be celebrating with a small intimate dinner on January 15, 2016 and taking photos at Ritter’s Diner the next day.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and congratulate Raye and Harry Coffey on the occasion of their 60th Anniversary; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, January 15, 2016, to be “ HARRY AND RAYE COFFEY DAY ” in the City of Pittsburgh.
