Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 9th to be "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.)" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, January 9th, the Pittsburgh Department of Public Safety, City of Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and partnering organizations will unite in support of law enforcement officials nationwide to promote National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.); and,

 

WHEREAS, in light of nationwide scrutiny of police, it is important to show our law enforcement officials that City of Pittsburgh citizens recognize the significance of the brave and dangerous profession they pursue and great public service that they do for us all; and,

 

WHEREAS, nationally, nearly 800,000 law enforcement officials wear a badge, dedicating and risking their lives daily, and facing unforeseeable danger to protect and ensure the safety of nearly 1.2 million Americans; and,

 

WHEREAS, in the City of Pittsburgh, 856 police officers safeguard the lives, property and environment of 305,842 city residents every day; and,

 

WHEREAS, these law enforcement officials serve as leaders and role models for many of our city’s youth as well as preserve the well-being of the city residents and City of Pittsburgh;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare January 9th to be “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (L.E.A.D.)” in the City of Pittsburgh.
