Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Pastor Isaac Jere, Charity Jere and the congregation of Pittsburgh Gospel Tabernacle Church for their devotion to God, the Pittsburgh region and our residents; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, December 18, 2015, to be "Pastor Isaac Jere Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, Pastor Isaac Jere and his wife, Charity, are pastors at Pittsburgh Gospel Tabernacle Church in Pittsburgh's West End neighborhood; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Jere has spent countless hours ministering to the homeless across Pittsburgh. They opened the doors of the church for those most in need; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Church now serves Thanksgiving dinners to those living in challenging conditions, they began summer free childcare programs and include a hot breakfast and lunch for the children in whom they serve; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor, serving as the loving man of God that he is, further displayed his compassion by providing space for SALT, the Save A Life Today program to operate. In addition, he provided programming space for Hope for Tomorrow. He teaches African- American drumming and eagerly participates in numerous neighborhood activities, including the National Night Out event in which the performers had even Mayor William Peduto dancing in the West End Park during their event and is always open to help organizations and people caring for the community in which he loves; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Jere provides ministry to jail inmates, hospital patients, shut-ins and people in need of knowing the love of the Lord; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pastor Jere is celebrating his 51 Birthday at his church in the West End on Friday, December 17, we wish him well and thank him for his unselfish and loving service to God, our children and residents and the community overall; and,
