Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby join with a host of colleagues and friends of Bob Means to commend, recognize, and congratulate him for 31 years of service to the Cable Bureau and the City; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 14th-18th, 2015 to be "Bob Means Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, in 1984, Bob Means started his career with the City of Pittsburgh and became one of the founders of the Cable Bureau, transforming the relationship between the City and its citizens by bringing important City meetings, programs, and news directly to the homes of thousands of Pittsburghers; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bob has worked hard to strengthen the Bureau and maintain its equipment for over 30 years, being instrumental in modernizing the Bureau and bringing it into the 21st century; and,

 

WHEREAS, outside of his work with the City, Bob is a talented musician, who played the trumpet and toured the country with The Vogues, the legendary band from Turtle Creek. Bob also DJ’d at the Luna Bar & Grill in Oakland for many years; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bob coached the semi-pro baseball team which included several City employees, following in the footsteps of his father who was a scouting coach for the Pittsburgh Pirates.  In 1990, the team traveled to Russia to play against their newly established national baseball team; and,

 

WHEREAS, Bob, over the years, had a major impact on the City, his dedication and expertise will be sorely missed; and,
