WHEREAS, Reaching New Dreams and Recognizing Talents is an organization of young innovators working to make an impact in the community and inspire young people by displaying hard work and commitment, and;
WHEREAS, Reaching New Dreams and Recognizing Talents is committed to proving that dreams do exist, and that recognizing and following talent and passion is what builds a life worth living, and protect against a life of violence, and;
WHEREAS, Reaching New Dreams and Recognizing Talents’ Stop the Violence Week taking place over Thanksgiving weekend from November 25th to November 29th, 2015, will provide programs and educational functions designed to encourage a think-first approach toward conflict, and;
WHEREAS, events will include a showcase of talents including arts, motivation, music, caterers and more, a basketball game featuring giveaways, raffles, and sponsors, as well as “Violent-Free” classical formals, as well as a networking day-time event on Sunday, and;
WHEREAS, Reaching New Dreams and Recognizing Talents also has a youth foundation of high school seniors who have committed themselves towards leadership and the vision of nonviolence, and;
WHEREAS, thirty percent of the proceeds from Stop the Violence Week will go towards the youth foundations individual scholarship, to educate and encourage youth to exceed their own expectations.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does honor and commend Reaching New Dreams and Recognizing Talents in their effort to encourage young people to choose a life without violence through their Stop the Violence Week, and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 25th through November 29th “Stop the Violence Week” in the City of Pittsburgh.
