WHEREAS, small retailers make between 10 and 20% of their entire annual profits during the holiday shopping season; and,
WHEREAS, small businesses in Pittsburgh are vital to the success, longevity, and vibrancy of our neighborhoods thanks to their locally tailored services, positive economic impact, and the employment opportunities they provide to residents; and,
WHEREAS, unique innovative minds, entrepreneurial spirits, and committed community members are what make the relationship between small businesses and the neighborhood they inhabit work in Pittsburgh; and,
WHEREAS, small businesses directly depend on patronage from loyal customers, and every dollar spent at local businesses in Pennsylvania returns sixty-eight cents to the local economy.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby proclaim the Saturday, November 28, 2015 as “Small Business Saturday” in the City of Pittsburgh.
