Title: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize and honor all of our teachers in the Pittsburgh Public Schools system for choosing such an honorable profession, and for their dedicated efforts to improve the lives of our City's youth; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 9th-14th, 2015 to be "Teachers Matter Week" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, if children are our most precious commodity, then the teachers who prepare them for the world are our greatest assets. The City’s very future depends on the education of our youngest residents who will become tomorrow’s leaders; and,

 

WHEREAS, Pittsburgh Public Schools wanted to recognize teachers and celebrate the teaching profession by creating events and platforms to showcase the best and brightest PPS has to offer; and,

 

WHEREAS, last year Pittsburgh Public created “Teachers Matter Week” to do just that and in its second year is now expanding  with even more exciting programming and events; and,

 

WHEREAS, to cap off the week, Pittsburgh Public Schools will host the “Pittsburgh Celebrates Teaching” gala event on Saturday, November 14th at 6pm at the Andy Warhol Museum to celebrate Pittsburgh’s great educators; and,
