Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare November 2, 2015 to be "The Foundation of Hope Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

Body

WHEREAS, The Foundation of HOPE is an interfaith non-profit with the mission to empower incarcerated and released individuals to restore their relationship with their God, rebuild their lives, and reconcile to their communities; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Foundation of HOPE offers inmates and ex-offenders the opportunity for a new life by offering three distinct elements of continuum care, chaplaincy, pre-release, and aftercare, with the end goal of reducing recidivism rates among ex-offenders and fostering family reunification; and,

 

WHEREAS, the goals of the program are accomplished through counseling, religious services, discipleship, practical resources and referrals, life skills education within and outside the jail, choice awareness training, and one-on-one mentoring; and, 

 

WHEREAS, since 2002, HOPE has been providing a continuum of care for inmates and ex-offenders in Allegheny County; and,

 

WHEREAS, The Foundation of HOPE, with honorary co-chairs Charlie and LaTasha Batch, will host an Evening of HOPE on Thursday, November 5, 6:00pm-8:30pm at the Rivers Club in Pittsburgh; and,

 

WHEREAS, in addition to a keynote address by Mr. Batch, entertainment throughout the evening will be provided by Brazilian singer Kenia, and the event will be emceed by Jon Burnett of KDKA, with Pittsburgh Magazine serving as media sponsor;
