WHEREAS, Lead Pastor Joyce M. Owens and her husband, Assistant Pastor Harry Owens have a love for God and a passion for God's people; and,
WHEREAS, Pastors Joyce and Harry are both graduates of The Willa M. Johnson School of the Bible and Ministry; and,
WHEREAS, in 1995, this power couple was ordained to preach the gospel by the First Baptist Church of West Mifflin and in 1997, the Lord called them to co-pastor at Victorious Faith Evangelistic Outreach church; and,
WHEREAS, in 2010, God gave Pastor Joyce M. Owens a vision to equip the believer for building the Kingdom of God and thus founded Abiding Faith Ministry; in addition, she founded Wives Empowered (WE) Ministry with the purpose of empowering wives to be in a right relationship with themselves and their husbands; and,
WHEREAS, recently, Pastor Joyce received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Christian Leadership at Geneva College in May, 2015 and Pastor Harry currently mentors other pastors on the board of the Pittsburgh Neighborhood Church Network and the Willa M. Johnson School of Bible and Ministry; and,
WHEREAS, Pastor Joyce and Pastor Harry have purposed in their hearts to reproduce in the lives of others what they have learned through their own walk with God and have taken the responsibility of mature believers to discipline fellow believers to enable them to reproduce spiritually ; and,
WHEREAS, Lead Pastor Joyce M. Owens and her husband and Assistant Pastor Harry Owens, have been married 31 wonderful years and have had five children, two of whom are deceased, fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; and,

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Lead Pastor Joyce Owens and Assistant Pastor Harry Owens for the work they do in the ministry and the lives they have touched; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Sunday, October 11, 2015...
