WHEREAS, STANDING FIRM, the business case to end partner violence in the workplace, was founding in 2009 by Dr. Pat Cluss and is a non-profit organization whose goal is to alert employers to financial, safety and human costs of partner violence in the workplace and to offer them tools for taking effective organizational action; and,
WHEREAS, STANDING FIRM teaches their member employers how to recognize that partner violence is a business issue that affects productivity and security, how to respond appropriately from a menu of actions steps to address the effects of partner violence and then how to refer to existing community resources for services that the employer does not have the expertise or ability to provide. Standing Firm has nearly 300 employee members who participate in their valuable services in the Pittsburgh area; and,
WHEREAS, STANDING FIRM will be holding its 2nd Annual Awards Luncheon on October 22, 2015 where it will award the 2015 STANDING FIRM CHAMPION AWARD to KRISTY TROUTMAN in recognition of her tireless advocacy for Standing Firm and its goal to help employers address partner violence and promote safety and well-being in the workplace; and,
WHEREAS, Kristy's efforts for STANDING FIRM have resulted in significantly heightened awareness of Standing Firm's mission and action to prevent gender and sexual violence. As Executive Director of the FISA Foundation, Kristy worked with internationally renown activists to educate business and civic leaders in Western PA on these important issues. She was a pivotal force in bringing the SAY NO MORE campaign to the region , breaking down hard lined corporate barriers to earn overwhelming support from the business community on an issue that used to be dismissed as "nobody's business".
