Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Vision Towards Peace for recognizing committed individuals in the field of social service and genuinely thank The Passion Meets the Road Awardees for their passion, dedication and perseverance; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, September 22, 2015, to be "Passion Meets the Road Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Erica Upshaw-Givner, LCSW, a University of Pittsburgh alumni, founded Vision Towards Peace LLC in 2012 with a mission to provide generational wellness one person at a time and a passion to serve the community; and,

WHEREAS, September, 2014 marked a new endeavor for Vision Towards Peace by sponsoring and hosting its first annual Passion Meets the Road Awards. The goal of the awards is to recognize individuals within organizations who go beyond the traditional forty hour work week, and often times making their personal needs secondary to those they represent; these are people who exemplify selflessness and an overall caring heart who have an unwavering work ethic and proven dedication to their community; and,

WHEREAS, these honorees navigate the system for their clients to lay the foundation for a sound mind and body by giving those who are ignored a voice and continuing to connect them to necessary resources within the community; and,

WHEREAS, the Passion Meets the Road Awards focuses on highlighting these individuals and honoring them for such service. No one individual can answer the needs of his or her community alone; we must do it collectively; and,

WHEREAS, Forerunner Awards are presented to those who are in a position of leadership who maintain community oriented roots and implement mirrored policies; secondly, Roadrunner honorees put in direct time and effort, with weekly follow through and dedication; Lastly, our Entrepreneur Award recipients have followed their commitment to social service into private practice based upon an inner sense of duty and calling; and,
