Title: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 11, 12 and 13 , 2015, to be "PITTSBURGH IRISH FESTIVAL DAYS " in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the mission of the Pittsburgh Irish Festival is to contribute to the rich cultural awareness of Irish history and tradition that exists in Pittsburgh. The parent organization, the Irish Partnership Pittsburgh, is a collaborative non-profit for the preservation and promotion of all things Irish; and,

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival has expanded into a year round resource for education and cultural programs through the creation of the Irish Education Outreach Program whose primary objective is to create a higher awareness of the ethnic richness and significance of the Irish and Irish-American culture and presence from both a historic and contemporary perspective; and,

WHEREAS, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival is the largest Irish Festival in Pennsylvania and one of the top 10 in the United States with over 25,000 attendees each year from all 50 states and many countries. It has been named of the original Pennsylvania Preferred Festivals from the PA Dept. of Tourism and is the co-founder of the Association of Irish and Celtic Festivals; and,

WHEREAS, this year, the Pittsburgh Irish Festival will celebrate 25 years and will be held on September 11, 12 and 13, 2015, at the Riverplex at Sandcastle in West Homestead, PA and will feature dancing, music and literature with Irish music legends, Irish dance demonstrations and instructions, an Irish Authors' Corner, an Irish Doll Display, Irish cuisine and Celtic beverages and a Beverage Tasting, an Irish Dog Area, Hedge School and a Genealogy Pavilion, a Children's Area with Irish arts and crafts, an Irish Marketplace, Blarney Bingo and much more.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Pittsburgh Irish Festival for fulfilling its mission to raise awareness in this region of Irish culture and for celebrating 25 successful years of bringing Pittsburghers together to celebrate their Irish heritage; and,
