WHEREAS, Shane Haynie is a dedicated employee of SAM’S Club and committed to community engagement and service; and,
WHEREAS, Shane partnered with Educating Teens about HIV/AIDS Inc. to renovate the library at Pittsburgh Manchester School in 2012, donating $30,000 in time and resources and continues to work with the non-profit to address the needs of our youth; and,
WHEREAS, Shane raises $20,000 annually for the Children Miracle Network at Children’s Hospital; and,
WHEREAS, Shane supports the Special Olympics to fight Multiple Sclerosis, and has raised $5,000 two years in a row; and,
WHEREAS, Shane started SHOP with a COP in Allegheny County, volunteers with the Salvation Army and serves as a mentor for CORO; and,
WHEREAS, Shane donates $10,000 in grants to the Pittsburgh community annually; and,
WHEREAS, Shane and his staff volunteered at the Urban League’s Northview Heights Family Support Center to clean, landscape, paint and provide snacks and book bags for the children; and,
WHEREAS, Shane took a crew to Brighton Road and Charles Street and preformed a lasting beautification project for that area; and,
WHEREAS, Shane was selected by his peers from all over the country and upper management as the CLUB of the YEAR for the past two years, which has brought recognition to our city;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare July 28th, 2015 to be “Shayne Haynie Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
