WHEREAS, Rev. Dr. Darryl T. Canady was raised in the Kissimmee and Jacksonville Florida areas. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in banking/Finance from Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia; his Master of Divinity degree from Emory University Candler School of Theology in Atlanta, Georgia; and his Doctor of Ministry degree from the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia ; and,
WHEREAS, In February 2010, The Rev. Darryl T. Canady accepted the call to pastor Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh. His perspective on revitalization inside and outside the church, and, leadership qualities were a welcomed addition to the Rodman Street ministry; and,
WHEREAS, Since his arrival to Rodman, Rev. Canady has created new ministries to enhance the lives of the people at Rodman and the community. Operation Inasmuch, HBO (Home Boys Out) and SHO-Time (Sistas’ Hangin’ Out) and March Madness (gathering for men only) are examples of ministries he has created to reach out to the people in the community and bring them closer together; and,
WHEREAS, Rev. Canady has completed the three year Lott Carey Foreign Mission Convention Pastoral Excellence Program and has ministered in several cities across the United States. He also has ministered internationally in South Africa, Jamaica, Guyana and the West Indies; and,
WHEREAS, The weekend of August 28-30, 2015 Rodman Street Missionary Baptist Church will be celebrating the five year pastoral anniversary of Rev. Canady; and

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend Rev. Canady on five years of service to his congregation and the community ; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, August 28 , 2015, to be “Rev. Dr. Darryl T. Canady Day” in the City of Pittsburgh.
