Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Saturday, June 20 , 2015, to be " Nikki Thorpe Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, Minister Nikki Thorpe began her music ministry as the director of the children's choir at the Greater St. John Church of God in Christ, where her parents, Bishop Walter E. Jordan and Evangelist Shirley Jordan, were pastors. Nikki is best known for her musical ear, directing, organizing events/ concerts and having a passion to lead people in praise and worship. Her theme is "We were created to worship Him!" Nikki is currently the Minister of Music at the Northside Institutional Church of God in Christ in Pittsburgh, PA, founded by Bishop Eugene Thorpe, where her mother-in-law, Evangelist Lola Thorpe is pastor. She has served faithfully in this capacity for the last 15 years; and,

WHEREAS, Nikki successfully solicited the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra to collaborate with African American Vocalists for the orchestra's first Tribute to African American Heroes concert and served on the orchestra's advisory board. She has toured in Europe as a vocalist with the New Millennium Gospel Singers and has done background vocals for several artists including the late James Moore. She is a member of the Gospel Heritage Foundation and was a founding member of the Jordanaires singing group of Mansfield, OH; and,

WHEREAS, She is also a songwriter and arranger and has been requested as praise and worship leader, guest presenter/director and workshop presenter at various locations. She serves as Executive Director, Special Events for the Church of God in Christ International Music Department under the leadership of the president, Dr. Judith C. McAllister. She founded the company, M.I.C.S. (Music Industry Consulting Services), which offers a variety of music business services to artists and musicians; and,

WHEREAS, Nikki is a Sunday School Teacher, founder of the NSI Back to School Bash, which is an outreach event serving hundreds of low-income children and their families. Nikki also conceptualized NSI's Kingdom Conference and served as co-chair for the 2015 ...
