Title: NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby commend the Tin Angel for nearly six decades of welcoming guests to the City of Pittsburgh high atop Mount Washington; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare Tuesday, June 23, 2015, to be "Tin Angel Day" in the City of Pittsburgh.

WHEREAS, the iconic Tin Angel , located in Duquesne Heights, has been a landmark on Grandview Avenue for 58 years and has closed its doors on May 30, 2015; and,    
 
WHEREAS, in December of 1957, Paul Kyros converted a former Grandview Avenue barbershop into a cocktail lounge which soon began to serve thick steak sandwiches to regulars who requested to have something to eat before heading home; and,
 
WHEREAS, in the early 1970s, the lounge was given a face-lift and opened as a fine dining establishment known as the Tin Angel and the menu soon changed from sandwiches to gourmet meals including Surf and Turf, and their signature vegetable boat filled with marinated artichoke hearts and included a delectable dessert menu; and,  
 
WHEREAS, after Paul Kyros passed away in 2006, his children, James and Maria, who worked along with him since the 70's, carried on his legacy and took over all aspects of the business until their own professional careers and family took precedent; and,  
 
WHEREAS,  during its 58 years of operation, the Tin Angel has welcomed over 500,000 guests including President Bill Clinton and British Prime Minister John Major; entertainers including Cher, Sharon Stone, Russell Crowe and Valerie Bertinelli; and sports and media personalities Lynn Swann, Ben Roethlisberger and Bob Pompeani, just to name a few; and,
 
WHEREAS,  the dining landmark leaves behind picturesque views of  Pittsburgh's point and the three rivers along with many people who the Tin Angel have called friends; and,
